Silicon Valley is known for over-achieving technologists and visionaries, but that's not where the talent ends. Known as the birthplace of countless bands that music lovers celebrate, the Bay Area has always known how to boogie and the People Power Band has become a solid part of that legacy.
"The People Power Band," says Gene Wang, CEO and Co-Founder of People Power, "has been around since before People Power. It's a tradition."
Wang first started playing in company bands at Borland in 1988 with the Turbo Jazz Band. Next at Computer Motion, we had the Robo Rockers. At Bitfone we featured the Silicon Jazz Band. "Now we have People Power Band with many musicians from Silicon Jazz," says Wang, "It's fun, builds team spirit and spreads our message through music. "
The band has performed all over the Bay Area from technology events like TiECon, Health 2.0 to the prestigious California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, CA as well as numerous festivals including Earth Day, infusing each performance with high energy and jazzy tunes.
The People Power Band is a soulful mix of lushly orchestrated horns, strings, vocals and rhythms, and comprised of some of the Bay Area's best talent including Grammy Award-winning Tenor Sax player, Ben Torres and Jeffrey Wash, PPB's music director who's backed up singers from "The Voice" and "American Idol" and worked with many artists including Huey Lewis, Michael Bolton, and Amanda Brown. With a repertoire that includes everything from classics from Stevie Wonder, the Beatles and the Tower of Power to modern hits by Avicii, Pink, and Bruno Mars, the People Power Band is sure to inspire a fun night for any crowd!
