Hernando Beach, Florida Resident Helping Local Boaters with Presence App

Brian Hinderberger

A happy Presence App user and proud community member who lives near the water of the Gulf of Mexico in Florida helps provide a constantly updated scenic view using Presence App's Auto-Tweet feature to showcase the current water conditions.

Hernando Beach, Florida, commonly called "The Adventure Coast," is a small waterfront community of approximately 2000 canal and gulf front homes, great restaurants, boating, kayaking, fishing, scalloping, and more! Diane G. wanted to connect her community with her fantastic view, not only for the beauty but also for Marine Patrol and boater safety.

"I use Presence for our residents, out of state owners, visitors and public service agencies to monitor water, weather, and marine traffic conditions on the Gulf of Mexico," says Diane.

Keeping An Eye on Water Conditions

Her house is located directly on a main channel to the Gulf of Mexico and every boat in in her community has to travel through this channel, "I have tried to get news agencies involved in providing a cam for our area. But because Hernando Beach is a smaller community and the cost of cams can be expensive no local agency has taken the initiative to install a cam on our roof."

She decided to use Presence App, "I have three cameras that I use to provide this service. One camera is set up to monitor the channel coming to the Gulf. A second camera is set up to monitor the main channel leading out to the Gulf of Mexico where all traffic must travel.

The cameras face West and South West and help her capture most sunsets as well. She uses the third camera for her own security use, "to monitor my boat dock in front of my home, which I leave private, while allowing the other two cams to send video directly to Twitter."

"Thanks Presence for a great application that serves our entire community!"

It takes a little coordination and a team leader, but Twitter offers a perfect venue to round up your neighborhood watch group. You'll need to start a new Twitter account that will be the catch point for all the Presence App motion activated video your neighborhood will capture.
