The temperature sensor detects ambient air temperature and reports the readings to you anywhere in the world about once every 15 minutes. It is designed for indoor use away from rain and moisture, and will report from 0 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius, which is 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.
The temperature sensor is great for detecting freezing conditions which may lead to frozen pipes and water leaks. It can also keep your expensive wine collection in check. Wine should be stored around 55° F / 13° C. Wine can be stored as high as 69° F / 21° C without long-term negative effects. Some sources claim that red wine stores well between 50-60° F / 10-15° C, and white wine stores well between 45-50° F / 7-10° C.
Sudden fluctuations in temperature on pianos can negatively affect the tuning and regulation of the piano.
The temperature sensor uses a CR2032 Lithium coin cell battery, which should last a few years.
